Dr Hish Said

Dr Hish is a fully GMC-registered Consultant-level Anaesthetist with more than 20 years of medical experience spanning anaesthesia, intensive care medicine, perioperative care and patient optimisation.
After graduating in 2003, he completed specialist residency training in Anaesthesia, Intensive Care and Chronic Pain Medicine at Cairo University, gaining experience in more than 6,500 cases over four years and attaining a Master’s degree.

Dr Hish subsequently spent 15 years in the NHS (2010–2025), including more than five years practising at Consultant-level in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine. He attained the FRCA and MCICM and developed extensive expertise in advanced ventilation, haemodynamic and cardiac output monitoring, haemodialysis and haemofiltration, and the management and transfer of critically ill patients. His leadership roles included Critical Care Transfer Lead and Critical Care Outreach Lead, and he has spoken at and attended numerous international medical conferences.
In 2009, he furthered his clinical training in Orange County, California, gaining additional experience across a broad range of anaesthetic specialities.
2025
In 2025, Dr Hish was offered an Assistant Professor position in Anaesthesiology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). He ultimately chose not to take up the position for personal reasons and instead continued the development of his private clinical practice.
PRACTICE & APPROACH
Medical Examiner
He is additionally a fully qualified Medical Examiner (RCPathME) and worked within the NHS Medical Examiner service for three years.
Current practice
Now practising predominantly in the private sector, Dr Hish holds practising privileges at leading clinics and hospitals across Chelsea, Harley Street, Central London and Battersea. He also continues to undertake occasional NHS bank shifts as a Locum Consultant Anaesthetist, maintaining an active clinical connection with the NHS. His principal focus is cosmetic and plastic surgery, while continuing to provide anaesthesia across other surgical specialties. He has personally delivered anaesthesia for more than 4000 cosmetic and plastic surgery procedures.
Anaesthetic expertise
Dr Hish has particular expertise in Total Intravenous Anaesthesia (TIVA), which can provide precise control of anaesthesia and favourable recovery characteristics, including a reduced incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting in appropriate patients. He routinely uses depth-of-anaesthesia monitoring, enabling anaesthesia to be carefully titrated to each individual throughout surgery.
Patient journey
Central to his practice is the entire patient journey — from addressing concerns and anxiety before surgery and providing comprehensive preoperative assessment and optimisation, through meticulous anaesthetic care, to achieving a smooth and comfortable recovery.
Longevity and metabolic health
Beyond anaesthesia, Dr Hish has a strong interest in longevity and metabolic health, with particular expertise in Therapeutic Plasma Exchange (TPE), supported by his extensive intensive-care experience in extracorporeal therapies and complex physiology. He also provides medical weight-management consultations, including GLP-1 therapies where clinically appropriate, together with nutritional, metabolic and lifestyle optimisation.
OUTSIDE MEDICINE
Outside medicine, Dr Hish enjoys spending time with family and friends, travelling and resistance training. He is also a keen wine collector.
